Sunderland are reportedly stepping up their interest in Tottenham striker Darren Bent, who could be available for around £12million.The England international, 24, had a disappointing first season at White Hart Lane following his big-money move from Charlton last summer, scoring just six Premier League goals.
Now Black Cats boss Roy Keane is said to be lining up a transfer bid and believes he can persuade Bent to make the switch to Wearside.
Blackburn and Aston Villa are also monitoring Bent's situation, but Keane is determined to be at the front of the queue should Spurs decide to cash in.
The Stadium of Light chief is unsure when Kenwyne Jones will be fit again following knee ligament damage, while the chances of signing Real Mallorca striker Dani Guiza are fading following Spain's eye-catching Euro 2008 triumph.
Meanwhile, Scottish left winger Ross Wallace, 23, is being linked with Preston and Sheffield United, while 22-year-old Irish striker Roy O'Donovan is a target for Dundee United and Leeds.

ramos sell berba, keane n bent...buy villa,silva,henry...go tottenham go go go...show them our power!!
keane to liverpool
bebratov to manchester united
bent to sunderland
oops there is no strikers left in tottenham
If bent and berbs both go we'll be in deep trouble, I hope Ramos has got some ideas about who toreplace them with...
Malcolm, I admire your confidence.....
"not much better than us"....hilarious!! You genuinely made me laugh out loud ;)
can't allow you to get away with that mate, we are not that bothered about getiing him or not, We are sick of other peoples rejcts and want some real clas signings for our team this season. as for him shinning in Europe ,well he won't do that with Spurs either as you will b e out after your first game. Your team weren' that much better than us and I reckon you could be struggling next season.
Forget Sunderland... Spurs need options up front - they only have 3 out and out strikers - and Bent is probably the most 'natural' goalscorer of the 3, with Keane and Berba the more gifted and blessed with flair.
If he goes to Sunderland, chances are they won't create as many goals for him - nor will they give him the chance to shine in Europe.
Selling him now = big mistake!
