Bradford City new-boy Paul McLaren says the ambition of Bantams manager Stuart McCall convinced him to drop down a division.The 31-year-old signed a two-year deal at Valley Parade after being released by League One Tranmere last month.

McLaren was offered a new contract with Rovers but decided the time was right for a fresh challenge, despite making 48 appearances last season.

He told the club's official website: "Moving down a division is not something I took lightly but the gaffer's ambition is the same as mine, that it will hopefully only be for one season.

"The club are looking to take off and everything is here to do that."
