Walsall have signed former Swindon Town midfielder Sofiene Zaaboub on a free transfer and he has penned a one-year contract.The 25-year-old Frenchman was released by the Robins at the end of last season having made over 60 appearances for Town.

Zaaboub, who can also play at full-back, boasts FC Brussels and Italian club Modena as two of his previous clubs.

Saddlers boss Jimmy Mullen told the club's official website: "Sofiene is a another proven player at this level.

"He is at the right age, has an excellent pedigree and I am sure will prove to be a valuable member of the squad.

"He is comfortable both in midfield and at full-back and I am looking forward to working with him."
