Queen of the South are into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1950 after a 2-0 win over Dundee in an all-First Division battle.

Stephen Dobbie's brilliantly-executed goal put the Dumfries side into the lead after 52 minutes.

And Ryan McCann sealed the famous victory in injury time when he fired into an empty net from well inside his own half after Dundee goalkeeper Craig Samson had gone forward for a free-kick in search of a last-gasp equaliser.

Meanwhile the day's other tie saw Premier League St Mirren held to a 1-1 draw at St Johnstone, another First Division outfit.

Andy Dorman was once again the Buddies' hero as his second-half equaliser earned his side a replay.

Hugh Murray proved to be the sinner in the battle of the Saints as his clumsy foul on Goran Stanic allowed Liam Craig to confidently convert a 32nd-minute penalty.

But despite creating the better openings, St Johnstone could not find a second goal and now face a replay in Paisley after Dorman struck to add to his winning goal in the previous round at Dundee United.
