LONDON (Reuters) - Venus and Serena Williams, who will face each other in Saturday's Wimbledon singles final, continued their domination of the championships on Friday by reaching the women's doubles final.
The American sisters, seeded 11th, beat Nathalie Dechy of France and Australia's Casey Dellacqua 6-3 6-3. They have yet to drop a set in singles or doubles so far in the tournament.
In Saturday's final they will face Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur, who beat top seeds Cara Black and Liezel Huber 6-3 6-3.
Father Richard will not be in London to watch his daughters on Saturday when Venus will be trying to reverse two Wimbledon final defeats by Serena and land a fifth singles title. The sisters have also won two doubles titles together here.
"He said he did his job and his job was done, so I guess he's feeling good. No matter what happens he's for sure going to be a winner," Serena told reporters.
"I assume he'll be in Florida, because I knew he flew back to Florida. I don't know if he'll watch it, but I know he'll be there."

The williams sisters are where they are on merit, boring or not, its up to the rest of the players to add more spice to the game by increasing their level of play such as Henin did. There have been other extremely boring matches in tennis history involving other players (including the recent mens French open final remember - nothing was arranged there, yet two very skilled players ;)), but people only choose to recall when a williams clash is due. As for the prize money, I disagree that it should be equal not because of gender, simply because the men have to go through a minimum of 3 sets and women 2 sets. Face it, if you're working for the same company, doing the same job, earning same amount per hour, but your colleage works half a week and you a full week, and both get same pay - you'd be asking questions right? - just a matter of simple logics.
A big pity that people allow their personal desires and skin pigmentation affect their sense of judgement and appreciation of beauty. Venus and Serena have matured over the years to become the best Act on the Tenis Scene. Either in singles or doubles, they are a dream to watch and open minded persons would sure agree with my observation. It is strange therefore that when they loose, nothing is said about their positive contribution. When they win, nothing positive is also said. Win or loose, they are criticised and condemned. Good thing is , they have risen above the negatives and have raised and would continue to raise the Ladies Tennis bar. Let those pained by their acchievements, go face them on the court either in singles and dobles and then, they would be qualified to make their negative comments. Bels.
Congrats the Williams sisters. You are a pride to every parents. It will be so interesting watching you two slug it out. For those big headed men who sees nothing in women, shame. Rather than cry, why not send your daughters to these sisters for coaching and encouragement? I am a man and must confess that female tennis gives me more satisfaction than men - just flexing muscles around and very uninspiring.
I commend the organizers for the equal prize money and hope that one day men will face women in the court so that our ego will be tamed when beating by them.
Fantastic effort Serena and Venus! Congratulations on raising the bar and progressing womens tennis. Best of luck to both of you for the final - may the best player on the day win!
what a bore watching these 2 sluggers play again!!what a bore.If its anything like the last final they played at Wimbledon it will be a disaster-still all the others have only got themselves to blame.Womens tennis is @#$% and not deserving of equal prize money.
