Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has hailed the strength in depth of his new-look squad ahead of the start of the Championship campaign.Martinez has chopped and changed his starting XI during pre-season and is remaining guarded over who will get the nod to face Charlton at The Valley this weekend.

The Swans completed their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 win over ADO Den Haag on Tuesday and all eyes are now firmly trained on Saturday's return to the second tier of English football for the first time in 24 years.

"The Den Haag game was another exercise and we worked really well in what we wanted to do and what you can see from the outset is what fantastic competition we have in the side, and that's what we want," said Martinez.

"Charlton for us is not our final, our final is the 10-month competition we have in the Championship so we need every player ready to play their role and that's what I'm interested in.

"I'm not interested to see who's going to be in the first 11 at Charlton, I'm interested in the boys that are going to play a massive role for Swansea this season and that they're ready to improve on what we achieved last season."
