Midfielder Alex Russell is likely to be Cheltenham's only new signing on show when they begin their League One campaign at Northampton.Boss Keith Downing has yet to bring in a replacement for last season's top scorer Steven Gillespie, who joined Colchester for more than £400,000 last month.

Midfielder Scott Brown has not yet returned to full training and is a major doubt due to a badly bruised left leg picked up in the friendly draw with West Brom.

Shane Duff, who has recovered from a thigh problem, should be fit to start at centre-back with Michael Townsend.

Defenders Callum Hart and Andy Nicholas, who played in Cheltenham's friendly win at Cirencester Town on Tuesday, are training with the Robins.

Downing will also continue to monitor former Newcastle trainee Liam Adkin.
