Striker David Trezeguet has retired from international football following the retention of Raymond Domenech as France manager.
The Juventus player was left out of France's Euro 2008 squad and had an uneasy relationship with coach Domenech, who was told last week he could stay in the job.
France were dumped out of the finals at the group stage last month after drawing one and losing two of their games at the tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
"The awful Euros and the confirmation of the coach have led me to this irreversible decision," the 30-year-old said at Juve's pre-season training retreat.
"I see football differently from how they see it in France. The Euros were very negative but what annoys me more is that Domenech is staying," he said.
"At the moment, more political decisions are being taken than football ones and they don't respect public opinion, which favours me."
Trezeguet was second top scorer in Serie A last season with 20 goals but could not force his way into Domenech's plans.
The France coach had called on him only five times since the 2006 World Cup final, which France lost to Italy on penalties with Trezeguet missing the crucial spot kick.
The forward, who helped France lift the World Cup on home soil in 1998 and scored the golden goal in the final to win Euro 2000, has netted 34 goals in 71 internationals.
His final cap came in the 1-0 friendly victory against England in March.

not good
OMG. I CNT B LEVE IT.
Trezeguet is a goal machine! He should play,so that France will have a better chance of winning games.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY SEE IN DOMENECH AS COACHIS A SHAME THAT HE STILL THERE I HOPE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY AR DOING.
DORTIN i agree with you on the fisrt half of your 1st comment, but henry still has a lot ot gove to france, and trezeguet as well, i find benzema really god he will be the next henry, and nasri is the next zidane
domenech is an f***ed retard, i hate him how the hell is he still in charge; i bet u that zidane 9with no exoerience in management) would do way better
I hate DOMENECH!!
domenech and the one's from the federation i mean :D
c'mon ! domenech still in charge ?!!!! i don;t understabnd why , when you have players like mexes , clichy , sagna , nasri , flamini , benzema , ben arfa...you still use mummies like viera , sagnol , makelele , thuram and flops...posers....like henry , abidal , malouda.... coupet is great...but old and he's on the verge of retirement.... in my opinion...the best 11 would be mandanda - sagna mexes gallas clichy - toulalan flamini nasri - ben arfa ribery - benzema....they have potential...but they don't have the balls.....
So what???
Mogsy (#40) has a point, but we should not forget that England had more injury issues than other teams. The defence in the last Croatia-game was second class - either too old or too young. France isn't bad, they were simply not leathal enough at EURO2008 - too laid back, not serious enough about winning. If England gets all their top players fit at the same time (even Owen!) and get their mentality sorted out, they can beat any team. McLaren was the wrong man, but the mentality of most Englishg players wasn't right either. I hope Capello can sort things out and get it going. It's one thing to have potential, but another thing to use it right!
France should get rid of their coach before losing more good players!
Domenech is not the right coach for any big team. Trezeguet is a great player, one of France's heroes. That penalty kick miss cannot take away all the great things he's done for this team before. And Domenech's personal issues made him week in this tournament... Trezeguet has a reason to be pi**ed off and I guess he knows the best what he should do...
If France are so bad, where does that put England!! Am I dreaming or is it correct that we failed to qualify for Euro 2008 + just before the tournament began we lost to France??!!??
Probably a good thing we didn't play in the Euros or all our players would never want to play for England again!!
Except Ribery maybe i am not seeing any talent ... maybe that's the reason they suck its because their are better football teams out there u can blame Domenech as long as u want but its not entirely his fault
one word- get wenger in
domenech out tre bien
most french people would love to see domenech leave he is as good as macca, i totally agree with trezeget, he plays a stupid 4-5-1 with some expired players , he needs fresh blood, be attack minded, a nothing to loose mentality, like the russians and the spanish.
My opinion, thought France have looked very flat beginning from WORLD CUP 2006. They were in an easy group and did just enough to get by in the Group stages. If it were not for Zidane picking up his game and giving 120% during the knock-out stages France would not have made it to the WC finals. Just goes to show what one man can achieve. France with all their talent look VERY SORRY, FLAT, NO PASSION, NO FLAIR, NO HEART, NO COMMITMENT, PLAIN, ORDINARY, BORING and most of all COMPLACENT. When you have world class players at your disposal and they look like they belong in a 2nd division team there is something definitely wrong. Domenech is entirely to blame for INEPT France.
We all agreed about Trezeguet status as a goalscoring legend and it seems the French FA are totally obvlious to
football matters and totally politically corrupt as Domenech is a pathetic figure of a coach and laughing stock as
a man who, after being kicked out of the European cup, takes the first tv crew to ask his girlfriend to marry him.
That gesture alone says it all, really. I feel sorry for France it feel like they are in the state Italy was 15 years ago before a coach actually got the job on merit (Arrigo Sacchi). Anyway, I am not sure Dechamps is old enough for the job, they should reward a top coach like that long standing Auxerre coach (can't remember the name...) or even better, Arsene Wenger (but he probably wouldn't take it).
Until recently I thought things actually looked good for France for the upcoming World Cup... plenty of young players who haven't reached their prime yet, and also Trezeguet as a veteran striker, I wouldn't have been surprised to see them reach the quarter-finals... of course, I was assuming that mentally retarted Raymond would have been sacked in favor of someone sane and talented... Deshamps being the first name coming to mind.
