Stockport boss Jim Gannon sees no reason why new recruit Owain fon Williams cannot be his side's first-choice goalkeeper this season.Williams joined newly-promoted County after his contract at League One rivals Crewe expired.
Stockport are negotiating a fee for the 21-year-old with the Railwaymen, but if no agreement is reached a tribunal will decide the figure.
Gannon told the club's official website: "Owain has got a good profile. He's over six foot tall, he's athletic, he's lean and he moves very well.
"He feels capable of being the number one, so we'll see how he does over pre-season.
"If he steps up to the mark then he'll make that position his own."
