Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has warned his players that a poor pre-season could ruin their entire 2008/09 League One campaign. The squad take on Shelbourne on Monday in the opening fixture of their pre-season tour of Ireland.
Jackett has promised 45 minutes to all 22 players and as they gear up for the season opener away at Oldham on August 9 - and wants them to set their stall out early on.
Jackett told the club's official website: "Ability is one thing, fitness and team spirit is closely following and equally important in making sure that you get the equation right for a successful season.
"If you do not get those qualities, if you get them wrong during course of the season it is hard to recover. It is very hard to recover from a bad summer for a football club.
"And we want to lay the foundations right so we can build when the games come round in August."
