Former Coventry and Southampton defender Paul Telfer has joined up with Leeds United on trial for their pre-season mini-tour of Ireland.Telfer, 36, is hoping to impress Leeds manager Gary McAllister in friendly matches against Galway, Bray Wanderers and Shelbourne.
The experienced former Scotland international spent two seasons at Celtic under Gordon Strachan before switching to Bournemouth last summer.
Telfer made 24 appearances for the cash-strapped Cherries but sustained a foot injury that required season-ending surgery and had his contract terminated by his own request.
He spent several seasons in the same side as McAllister at Coventry before the Leeds boss joined Liverpool in the summer of 2000.

An experienced defender could be a great asset for the youngsters
what do we need an ageing defender for, sooner give the youngsters a chance
young and committed is the way forward
