Tranmere Rovers striker Craig Curran admits he has to ease up in training this season in order to improve his form. The 18-year-old made only three senior starts for Rovers last season and more than 30 substitute appearances.
Having seen his form hindered by tiredness during the last campaign, Curran is hoping a pre-season rest will help him push himself into first-team contention.
"I realise I made the mistake in the past of not giving myself a rest. Last year I tired myself out because I did too much work in the close season," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"It's been stuck in my head that if I don't work hard I feel like I have let myself down. I just want to give myself the best chance of doing well. This year I have to be as fit as ever - but fresher.
"I always try my hardest in training but getting it right for games is what counts. No-one hands out medals for races on the training ground."
