Premier League - Robinho 'considers' Blues offer

Eurosport - Wed, 16 Jul 12:17:00 2008

Brazilian star Robinho is "seriously considering" a move to Chelsea, with the pulling power of new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari proving to be a factor.

FOOTBALL 2007-2008 La Liga Real Madrid Robinho - 0

The Blues, who have tied defender Wayne Bridge to a new contract, are reported to have offered Real Madrid £47.8 million for the forward, something they have denied.

Robinho is dismayed by plans to include him a deal to take Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu and his agent Wagner Ribeiro admits the 24-year-old is becoming restless.

"What's making Robinho seriously consider accepting Chelsea's offer is that Scolari helped him a lot when he wasn't very well known in Europe," Ribeiro told Brazilian website Globoesporte.com.

"Scolari called him up to play a game in Basle, between the Friends of Ronaldo and Friends of Zidane in 2003. Scolari spoke to Robinho and gave him strength.

"Madrid is one of the best cities in the world to live in. In other words Robinho has it all.

"The only unpleasant thing is the club's assessment of his value, and he feels undervalued for having become a part of some trade deal."

Bridge's decision to commit himself to Chelsea until 2012 has ended speculation over a possible £5 million move to Portsmouth.

"I'm just happy. I love it at Chelsea - the lads, the staff, everybody. I'm happy to be here, hopefully for the next four years," said Bridge.

Bridge has made 130 appearances for Chelsea since arriving from Southampton for £7 million in 2003.

The 27-year-old started just nine games last season as he continued his battle for the left-back duties with club and international colleague Ashley Cole.

But the rivalry with Cole and his place in the pecking order has not diminished his enthusiasm for life at Stamford Bridge, something new manager Scolari can attest to.

Scolari said: "I have been here only a few days but have seen that he is one of the best professionals at the club. I very much like his playing style."

  9. What a waste of telent. Wayne Bridge has one career, He's has talent, why spend most of it sitting on the bench.lets face it England is not blessed with many left sided players, so we need them all playing football.

  11. Where would Chelsea be without Abramovich's wallet, nowhere! I remember last season that Lampard had a report that he claimed he wanted to stay at Chelsea for the rest of his career, is he just a liar or is there something else going on. For example Chelsea had 3 captains of national teams of which only Terry didn't qualify for the Euro's I think as a song goes money can't buy you love in this case success as if you buy too much talent there is a problem with so many stars that may not even get a place on the pitch. I think it will sooner or later go all wrong for Chelsea...

  14. Very talented player but the Premiership is very physical and he is quite lightweight.

I think he is better off looking for another Spanish club.

  17. Will Robinho turn out to be another very costly Sheva mistake. Abromovich may be able to afford to lse that sort of money but what about the fans agaib being let down by the players and management. Lets hope not!

  18. Bridge is a true blue? no bridge is a money grabber who is happy to be second choice for club and country by sitting on the bench and earning a massive wage. Many players have gone to Chelsea for the money but when they released most of the time was on the bench they have left, Tiago, Parker, Sidwell, Duff, Geremi, Kezman etc. Bridge sums up everything that is wrong with the modern day footballer.

  19. i don't think Phil Scolari is the right man for the Chelsea job.personally i think he is highly rated.he won the world cup with Brazil not because he is a guineus but lucky-remember it was Seaman's mistake that took them to the finals.Watch the space ,i nthink its another Avram Grant!!!!!!!!!!
