With the big names staying away from the Istanbul Cup to rest ahead of the French Open we had to delve deep for this week's Fantasy picks.
Each week here on "In or Out" offers tips on players set to compete in that week's event who could be worth picking, hopefully giving you an edge over your rivals.
Remember you can still join the game and play against your friends, family and colleagues in a mini-League. Click on the link on the right to join up!
A Group
In: Whoever you already have
With none of the top Tier players contending next week's Tier III Istanbul Cup, you can hold off on this category until the French Open begins one week from Sunday.
Out: Justine Henin
The 25-year-old Belgian, who obviously leaves the game with a legacy as one of the finest competitors ever to play, shocked the world with her sudden retirement this week and will not defend her Roland Garros crown. Thus, she has no more fantasy relevance. If you don't believe me, see the story below the photo.
B Group
In: Elena Dementieva
This pick obviously depends on whether the presumptive top seed decides to defend her title in Istanbul in order to get some more warm-up matches in prior to the French, or whether she decides to skip Turkey like she did this week in Rome. If she plays, look for the Russian to continue her stunning form, which has led her to a 20-6 record this season including a semi-finals appearance in Charleston and a runner-up showing in Berlin.
Out: Nadia Petrova
Just two years ago Petrova won the three of the four major claycourt tournaments that lead up to the French Open claiming titles in Charleston, Amelia Island and Berlin. Now she is struggling to win a match. Don't go near the two-time Roland Garros semi-finalist with a ten-foot clown pole.
C Group
In: Olga Govortsova
The Minsk native has performed well on clay this year, racking up four wins in four tournaments. We like Govortsova's chances against a field that is very much at her level.
Out: Elena Vesnina
Despite having lost five successive matches on clay this spring, the 21-year-old Russian is still feeling the bounce from her third-round appearance in Melbourne and is ranked in our top-ten of most popular players in this group. It's time to drop her before Roland Garros.
D Group
In: Tsvetana Pironkova
The Bulgarian number one had a surprising run in Rome before falling to Anna Chakvetadze in the quarter-finals, beating world number two and French Open runner-up Ana Ivanovic in the second round. Pironkova will look to improve on those performances and confirm a reputation as a danger woman heading into Roland Garros.
Out: Sofia Arvidsson
Despite our warnings that she wouldn't do much during the claycourt season, which she for the most part has not, the Swede is still a favourite pick amongst our readers as the sixth-most popular player in this group. Even though Arvidsson won a title at a $75,000 ITF event in Zagreb last week, the competition level was tier ten and we can't see her coming close to repeating the stunt in Turkey.
