Former New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams has agreed a two-year deal with Nottinghamshire.
Adams, 32, will primarily provide bowling cover for England duo Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad but will also add depth to the lower order.
Adams enjoyed a brief spell at Trent Bridge last season, taking six wickets in a match against Derbyshire.
While his previous stint came as an overseas player, his current deal sees him registered as a Kolpak player due to West Indian heritage.
Director of cricket Mick Newell said: "With the likely absence of Ryan and Stuart on England duty for most of the summer and Graeme Swann's presence in the England one-day squad, we felt that we needed to add depth to our bowling unit and Andre fits the bill perfectly.
"He is an experienced international bowler and a hard hitter as well and he made a solid contribution during the six weeks he spent with us last season.
"We searched for an English-qualified player but it just wasn't possible and with Andre looking to emigrate to the UK, we made contact and agreed a deal.
"His signing was a cricket decision and we are pleased to have signed a player with an international pedigree."
