Manchester United chief executive David Gill has moved to deny talk that Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving for Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Real president Ramon Calderon has pledged to bring the Portuguese winger to the club, and Spanish sports daily Marca have led with a story that claims the 23-year-old has verbally agreed to join the Spanish champions for a world record fee in the summer.
However, Gill insists Ronaldo - who netted 31 Premier League goals this season - is not for sale at any price.
When asked if the PFA player of the year would stay at Old Trafford, Gill said: "Unequivocally yes.
"Cristiano will be with us next season. He has got a long-term contract.
"Why would he leave one of the best clubs in Europe? We see no reason for him to leave and I'm sure he doesn't as well."
Gill is adamant United are in no doubt over Ronaldo's future and says Sir Alex Ferguson has not even discussed the possibility of the Portuguese's exit
"He doesn't need to reassure us at all," Gill added. "Alex would be the person to speak to him, but I don't think that is necessary at all.
"I just see Cristiano and his attitude around the players and the team room now and there is no necessity to speak to him.
"He is on a long-term contract at one of the best clubs in the world. Why would he leave?
"The Premier League is up as the top league and he is playing fantastically at the best club.
"It is an interesting story it will rear its head, but it is not something that will give us sleepless nights."
