Mandaric rallies Foxes fans

Thu 22 May, 04:30 PM

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric believes that 'fan power' can help the club make an immediate return to the Championship. The Foxes were relegated to the third tier for the first time in their 124-year history last season.

Mandaric insists City supporters have an important role to play in League One, and has cited the successful teams to emerge from the division this season for his reasoning.

"The supporters have got a massive part to play and there is no doubt in my mind that they will be our 12th man next season," Mandaric told the club's official website. "I have never lost faith in our quest to get this club back where it belongs, and I know for a fact that the supporters will never lose their desire.

"Look at the teams that got promoted from League One last season - Swansea City and Nottingham Forest. They finished second and third as far as average attendances were concerned.

"Leeds topped the list, and they could yet still be promoted through the play-offs. That says a lot to me - it demonstrates fan power."
