Pique Returns To Barca

Tue 27 May, 03:09 PM

Manchester United defender Gerard Pique has rejoined Barcelona after signing a four-year deal at the Nou Camp

The 21-year-old returns to the Catalan giants, who he left to join United in 2004 at the age of 17.

And Pique has described the move as a "dream come true".

He told Barca TV: "It is a dream to return to Barca. When I left I thought it would be very difficult to come back and now my dream has come true."

Pique arrives at the Nou Camp as a European champion after his club won the Champions League last week, and the young Catalan admitted he was now keen to repeat his success with the club he has supported since childhood.

"As a player you grow a lot, personally and in a footballing sense," he said of his time in Manchester.

"In this last aspect you learn a lot just by being surrounded by players of such a high level.

"With Manchester United we won the Champions League, which is an unforgettable experience and one which I would like to repeat in a Barca shirt."

Finally he declared that there was only club he would have left England for, despite the fact that he had made 12 appearances for the English Premier League side in four seasons.

"Barca was the first and only option," he said. "Once Barca and United reached an agreement everything was very simple."
