Roeder dismisses Huckerby talk

Tue 29 Jan, 02:15 PM

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder insists he has had no contact from the MLS over the availability of forward Darren Huckerby. The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to Toronto FC, where former Canaries team-mates Carl Robinson and Jim Brennan play, but Roeder is adamant he's not received a single enquiry into the former Coventry man.

He said: "No one has phoned me up. This is the time of year for speculation. I have not heard anything at all, nothing whatsoever.

"The way the system works quite often now the managers at the club are the last people to hear. The days of ringing up the manager first and asking whether a player is available are nearly shot to pieces, nearly gone.

"I think a lot of people do deals around the back door, and then ring the manager and club to see what the possibilities are of moving players on, but I have heard nothing.

"I have had no phone calls from anywhere in this country or anywhere in Canada, or the world."
