Seeds progress in Doha

The three seeds in action on the opening day of ATP Doha came through unscathed but Igor Kunitsyn was shocked by Benjamin Becker.

Fifth-seeded Serb Viktor Troicki won 6-4 7-6(4) against Czech Lukas Rosol while eighth seed Andreas Seppi of Italy beat Lukasz Kubot of Poland 6-2 6-3.

Sixth seed Alex Bogomolov Jr. needed three sets to defeat Filippo Volandri, taking the match 5-7 6-4 6-2.

German Becker, ranked 304 in the world, went through in straight sets against 71st-ranked Russian Igor Kunitsyn, triumphing 6-4 7-5.

In the day's other matches, 66th-ranked Spaniard Albert Ramos was a 7-5 6-2 winner over Dmitry Tursunov, who is ranked 40th, and Flavio Cipolla eased past local player Jabor Al Mutawa 6-0 6-0.
