Delecour planning Monte Carlo comeback
Rally veteran Francois Delecour is close to finalising a comeback for the centenary edition of the Rallye Monte-Carlo - the opening round of the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
Forty-eight-year-old Delecour - who won the legendary asphalt rally 16 years ago - would compete in a Peugeot 207 Super 2000 alongside co-driver Dominic Savignoni and is confident of rolling back the years to claim another famous victory in Monte Carlo.
"When I saw the itinerary and remembered the rally was 100 years old I realised I had to do the event," Delecour said. "We still need to find some of the budget and a lot of the budget will be for the tyres because I need the complete choice to give myself the best chance that I can.
"I still have a big motivation to succeed; I'm completely fit and I know stages such as Le Moulinon and Burzet better than anybody else on the rally."
The Monte Carlo Rally - reputed to be the oldest motorsport event in the world - takes place from January 19-22, 2011.
