Chelsea 3-3 Aston Villa

Carlo Ancelotti: "We have lost confidence but not a winning mentality. First United have to win (their game in hand). Second I think the gap is not small but everything is open. Obviously we have to beat United here (in March) then we can say something about the title. It is not over because we are improving and we can save something this season. We lost confidence because the hard moment was too long, but I think we are improving. Defensively we have lost something but we are improving. We need some players. I do not want to say what players we need."

Gerard Houllier: "We showed character, we showed bravery, we didn't bottle it, we played. At 2-1, we knew that Chelsea would throw everything at us to equalise and, in fairness, they did. I would've been extremely disappointed if we didn't get anything from this game, but really for the players. Because I thought that, in fairness, they had done enough to at least get a draw."

Wigan Athletic 0-1 Newcastle United

Roberto Martinez: "It was a very scrappy game and we were poor, not up to the level we know we can achieve and there were a few reasons for that. After a slow start we were starting to show a little bit of a threat and creating opportunities, but it was one of those games where the first goal was going to be very important. We couldn't find a way to be ourselves, to impose ourselves, and to keep the ball. It was scrappy and we were looking for a bit of hope rather than a controlled performance."

Alan Pardew: "We worked hard and were disciplined and did the right things at the right times. A 1-0 away win, you take those and it's a good victory for us. The group has shown all season we're of good character and some of the disciplines we showed today were first class. The most important message for a club as big as us is that we should expect to win every game, regardless of the opposition, and then we see where we fall."
