Bundesliga - Bayern hope on Ribery and Robben
Bayern Munich are hoping injury-prone wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben will play the Bundesliga season-opener against Borussia Moenchengladbach after both came through their first team training sessions in recent weeks.
After the pair returned to action on Thursday, striker Mario Gomez said: “They both looked very good, their injuries weren’t that bad and they are really looking forward to the start of the season. I don’t see any problem for them.”
France’s Ribery, who spent five days in plaster with yet another ankle problem, had previously managed to complete an intensive physical training session with fitness coach Thomas Wilhelmi.
"I am knackered but I feel good and I don’t feel any pain," Ribery said.
Dutchman Robben, meanwhile, added he was "optimistic about the match against Gladbach".
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid star had also suffered an ankle injury, saying "I’m relieved as it could have been a lot worse".
