France Jason Lamy Chappuis added the overall Nordic combined World Cup title to his recent Olympic crown after a tenth-place finish in Lahti.
Norway's Magnus Moan romped to his third win of the season in Finland, sprinting clear of home favourite Hannu Manninen in the final straight to win in 25:20.3 minutes.
But it was Lamy Chappuis who took the plaudits in Lahti as he tied up his first overall title after maintaining an uncatchable lead of 276 points ahead of Austria's Felix Gottwald with two races remaining.
The 23-year old transferred his World Cup form to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver last month, where he hauled in USA's Johnny Spillane in the final stretch to capture the normal hill/10km title.
And while the Frenchman couldn't replicate the result in Finland, starting 1:30 mins off the pace after his ski jump before ultimately finishing 44.6 seconds behind Moan, Lamy Chappuis knew the title was in touching distance.
Gottwald did his best to keep his World Cup hopes alive, cutting a gap of 2:28 mins down to just 20.2 secs with the fastest cross country time of the field, but his fifth place finish was only good enough for 45 points.
With two races remaining, Lamy Chappuis has 995 points with Gottwald on 719 and Germany's Eric Frenzel third on 675.
But Moan, who sits 33 points back in fourth, will move ahead the German with a win in the second race in Lahti on Saturday.
