Aussies close on semi-finals

Tournament favourites Australia defeated Spain 2-0 in an exciting pool match to close in on a semi-final spot at the men's hockey World Cup.

In-form Luke Doerner scored from a penalty corner to put world number two side Australia 1-0 up in the 20th minute against Olympic silver medallists Spain.

Glenn Turner scored in the 60th minute as former champions Australia recorded their third victory in four matches in the six-team group B.

Australia, who won a record tenth Champions Trophy in December, thumped South Africa by a record 12-goal margin in the previous round.

England play India and Pakistan take on South Africa in the other two pool B matches being played later on Saturday.
