Polish cross-country skier Kornelia Marek has been banned for two years after failing a drugs test during the Vancouver Olympics in February.
"The disciplinary committee today has suspended Kornelia Marek for two years from the national team and all the domestic events," Polish Ski Federation Secretary General Grzegorz Mikula told Reuters.
"FIS will make a separate decision on the issue as will the IOC."
The 24-year-old skier maintained she did not take the banned substances on purpose, Mikula added.
Marek has two weeks to appeal the decision.
Marek finished 11th in the women's individual 30km mass start and 35th in the 15km pursuit in Vancouver.
Two other athletes failed dope tests during the official Vancouver Games Olympic period - ice hockey players Lubomir Visnovsky from Slovakia and Svetlana Terenteva of Russia. Both athletes received reprimands.
Visnovsky tested positive for a substance found in a common cold medicine and Terenteva for a mild stimulant found in an over-the-counter nasal spray.
