Voeckler wins stage to go top
Europcar's Thomas Voeckler secured victory in the penultimate stage of the Four Days of Dunkirk to take the lead at the top of the general classification.
Voeckler sprinted to the line to beat a five-man chase group by one minute and 43 seconds, to overall Marcel Kittel, who had won each of the previous three stages.
Laurent Pichon (Bretagne-Schuller) finished second while Quick Step's Zdenek Stybar took third in the same time as Pichon.
Kittel finished 11:39.00 off the pace and dropped to 44th in the GC, while Voeckler took a 1:50 lead over Pichon at the top. As well as taking third in the stage, Stybar also moved to third overall.
Kevin De Weert, Sven Nys and Joost Van Leijen formed a breakaway after 90 kilometres before being caught by a chasing group, including Voeckler, with 55km remaining.
The Europcar rider then made a solo break 20km from the line, with the chase group including Pichon, Stybar, Pierrick Fedrigo, Thierry Hupond and Rob Ruijgh failing to catch the Frenchman.
