James Ward will open Great Britain’s Davis Cup match against Luxembourg on Friday, with Andy Murray's first singles rubber up later in Glasgow's Braehead Arena.

Davis Cup - Draw puts Ward first

British number two Ward, whose run to the semi-finals at Queen’s Club last month elevated him to world number 187, starts against world number 81 and one-time US Open quarter-finalist Gilles Muller, who has reached the third round of Wimbledon.

That match starts on Friday at 4pm, with world number four Murray playing Laurent Bram afterwards.

On Saturday at 2pm Murray will team up with brother Jamie for the doubles clash with Bram and Mike Vermeer, with the reverse singles rubbers played on Sunday from 1pm.

"This is probably the strongest Davis Cup team we’ve had since we had Tim (Henman) and Greg (Rusedski)," British captain Leon Smith said. "I know we keep mentioning it but it’s a big deal having Andy in our team; it helps all our players.

"We’ve seen Mike Vermeer a few times, playing Spanish Futures events with some of the British guys, but not seen much of Laurent Bram. Gilles Muller, their number one, is obviously coming in off the back of a strong grass-court season."

Colin Fleming had been forced to withdraw from the team due to a foot injury and has been replaced by Dan Evans.

The Europe / Africa Zone Group II tie will be played at Braehead Arena from July 8-10 2011 and will be screened live on British Eurosport on Friday and Saturday and delayed on Sunday.
