Rodriguez wins Vuelta a Burgos
Euskaltel rookie Mikel Landa won the brutal 155km final stage which finished with a climb up to Areniscas de los Pinares, surging clear of Geox-TMC's Juan Jose Cobo to win by five seconds.
Rodriguez was third on his own a further ten seconds back to complete a 38 second overall victory ahead of team-mate and fellow Spaniard Daniel Moreno, while Cobo's second place on the final stage was good enough to lift him into third place overall a further seven seconds back.
"Today's stage was particularly hard," said Rodriguez.
" Euskaltel imposed an incredible pace, reaching a well-deserved win. Mikel Landa, in his first year as a pro, proved today that he is a very talented rider.
"Luckily, once again I could take advantage on my team-mates' incredible work: we're an extraordinary group, in which everybody is happy to sacrifice himself for his team-mate.
"This success has to be equally shared with all the team members. Without them it would have been impossible do this. Now we're looking forward to the Vuelta a Espana with a huge enthusiasm".
