European Challenge Cup - Brive beat Scarlets to make semis
Scarlets' bid for a place in the Amlin Challenge Cup semi-finals ended in disappointment after they slipped to a 15-11 defeat at Brive.
Brive's South African centre Riaan Swanepoel and Stephen Jones scored two penalties apiece as the teams went into half-time at 6-6, before Swanepoel successfully converted two more efforts at the start of the second period to put the hosts in front.
Scarlets got themselves back into the quarter-final through a 58th-minute try from Liam Williams but Rhys Priestland could not add the conversion as the French side remained narrowly ahead at 12-11 and Swanepoel sealed the victory with another penalty in the last minute.
Brive, 1997 Heineken Cup Champions, will now face Biarritz, with Toulon taking on Stade Francais in the other semi-final.
