Tour de France - Interview Kessiakoff: My objective was never to go alone

I've got mixed feelings, disappointment but also happiness. I'm disappointed that I ended up so close to winning the stage but didn't, but at the same time I'm happy because I think I've made a good impression today and I did a good race. In the end I walk away with this jersey and I that's a success in itself so I'm happy with that. I will now rest well, take it easy in the time trial and then have a break on the rest day and we'll see how I'm feeling in the next road stage; if I feel good, then I'll try and defend it as well as I can. My objective was never to go alone but it just happened that way. I wanted to get the maximum points at the GPM (Grand Prix de la Montagne) and I just found myself alone and I said to myself, Okay, I'll just keep on riding and see where it takes me'. And yeah, I didn't quite make it but at least I get to wear this jersey. I didn't know if it was possible to catch [Thibaut] Pinot on the descent but at least I tried but I just didn't have the legs. I'd been riding so long by myself and I just found that one speed I could go and I couldn't go any faster. Although I tried, I knew pretty early that it wasn't possible. I figured, okay be happy with what I've done. I expect it'll be very difficult to keep this jersey but at least I'll give it a go.
