Serie A - Cagliari sack Ficcadenti
Serie A side Cagliari have sacked manager Massimo Ficcadenti.
The surprise decision came despite the Sardinian club sitting in a comfortable 10th place in the league this season.
"Massimo Ficcadenti is no longer the coach of Cagliari. The decision was taken today (Tuesday)," a statement on the club's website read.
"He has left the club along with his assistant managers.
"Cagliari FC would like to thank Massimo Ficcadenti and his staff for the work carried out with commitment and professionalism."
Ficcadenti replaced Roberto Donadoni in the Cagliari hotseat in the summer and got his career at the Stadio Sant'Elia off to a good start, winning three of his first five games in charge.
But a winless run of five culminated in a 3-0 home defeat to Lazio at the weekend and now reports are touting Davide Ballardini for a return to the club he coached in 2005 and again in the 2007-2008 season.
