Agnieszka Radwanska won her second successive title after downing Andrea Petkovic 7-5 0-6 6-4 in the WTA Beijing final.

The two players were not just fighting for the title in China but for points to try and reach the WTA Championships in Istanbul at the end of the season.

Radwanska now has the edge by moving to eighth in the standings with Petkovic in ninth, and it is unlikely that there will be space for both of them in Turkey.

"This is my biggest title of my career," said Radwanska.

"It's always hard to come back, especially when you lose the set 6-0. She was just killing the ball and she killed me in the second set. It was very, very tough."

Petkovic was the more aggressive player throughout the match – hitting 54 winners to Radwanska's 32 – but that also led to far more unforced errors, 33 to 12.

With the victory the 11th-seeded Radwanska now holds a 5-0 record against her German opponent.

Radwanska won the title in Tokyo last week by beating Vera Zvonareva in the final.
