Boe upsets countrymen in Hochfilzen
Norway's Tarjei Boe upset his more fancied countrymen to win the men's 10km sprint biathlon race in Hochfilzen.
The race was expected to be between Emil Hegle Svendsen and Ole Einar Bjoerndalen but Svendsen had two shooting errors and finished fourth while the snowy conditions and a miss at the second range limited Bjoerndalen to just a 10th place finish.
Boe was the only competitor in the top five to shoot flawlessly and he finished in 28 minutes and 17.6 seconds to finish 27.5 seconds ahead of Serguei Sednev of Ukraine with Alexis Boeuf of France finishing third.
It was the first World Cup victory of Boe's career and moves him up to third in the overall standings behind Svendsen and Bjoerndalen.
