La Liga - Varane prepared to wait for chance
New Real Madrid signing Raphael Varane is prepared to wait for first-team opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 18-year-old, recently arrived from Lens, is highly thought of in Madrid and has already impressed the club's hierarchy with some impressive performances in pre-season.
The central defender is keen to move to the top of the pecking order at Real but is well aware that with the likes of Raul Albiol, Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe already at the club it will be no easy task.
The Frenchman told L'Equipe: "I can't see myself winning a starting berth right away. That isn't possible as I need time to adapt first.
"I want to get as much playing time as possible, but I'm not in a rush. I'm obsessed with making progress.
"I like my current situation, though. I enjoy a challenge like this. I want to develop and succeed here.
"You can't say no if you're an ambitious person and get the chance to be part of a project like this. It will be a great adventure for me."
