Prommegger and Tudegesheva open season with wins
Andreas Prommegger and Ekaterina Tudegesheva took the opening events of the season as the Snowboard World Cup started in Landgraaf in the Netherlands.
Austria's Prommegger beat Roland Fischnaller of Italy in the men's final of the indoor parallel slalom while Russian Tudegesheva defeated Heidi Neururer of Austria in the women's showpiece on the 250m long slope.
There was disappointment for the home fans as Nicolien Sauerbreij, who secured Olympic gold in the PGS, failed to make the knock-out phase after only managing the 31st best time in qualifying.
The overall World Cup snowboard title has been divided into two this season with the best freestyle snowboarder (halfpipe, big air and slopestyle) as well as the best race and speed specialist (parallel and snowboard cross) being crowned.
