Premier League - Gerrard set to start United clash
Gerrard has not started a match for the Reds since the win over United on the same ground back in March. After that 3-1 victory the England midfielder picked up a groin injury which required surgery, eventually ruling him out for six months.
Manager Kenny Dalglish has eased his skipper back into the fold this season, deploying him from the bench just three times since his first appearance of the season in the Carling Cup win at Brighton three weeks ago.
Liverpool currently lie fifth in the Premier League table, and Dalglish believes that Gerrard's return can only improve their prospects.
"A fit Steven Gerrard strengthens this football club, no question," he said. "If you have Steven in your squad, it's going to raise the profile and standard.
"We want to have a really strong squad - and him being in it makes it that much stronger."
