Australian short track speed skater Lachlan Hay is a big Winter Olympics outsider so the shop assistant is looking to clean up after a potential spill by his competitors.
Such a victory would emulate his compatriot, 2002 Olympic champion Steven Bradbury, who won the 1,000 metres gold medal after the rest of the field ended up in a mass pile-up before the finish line.
"Every time I see it, it gives me chills," said the 23-year-old Hay, who will compete in the men's 1,000 in Vancouver. "I've been joking around with my coach, saying that I'm going to do it again."
Bradbury's unlikely road to the gold medal was aided by a string of fortunate events, including other skaters being disqualified or crashing.
With messy tumbles common in races, Hay's dream of 'doing a Bradbury' may not be quite the joke he thinks it is.
