Fourcade victorious in Fort Kent
Martin Fourcade of France battled freezing temperatures to impressively claim victory in the men’s 15km mass start at the IBU biathlon World Cup in Fort Kent, USA.
The 22-year-old went one better than his Olympic silver last year in America taking control of the final three kilometres to take the win in 39:48.9 minutes.
Poland’s Tomasz Sikora – who won Olympic silver back in Turin in 2006 – came home second just over three seconds behind Fourcade as temperatures plummeted well below freezing.
World Cup leader Tarjei Boe incurred two penalties but that didn’t stop him adding to his lead at the top of the overall rankings as he battled to finish third in Fort Kent.
