Feillu also moved up to second in the overall standings but Lithuanua's Egidijus Juodvalkis (Landbouwkrediet) remains in the overall lead by a solitary second.

It was Feillu's fifth win of the season – after his three stage wins during the Tour of the Mediterranean and his win in the Tour du Finistere.

Feillu beat a quintet of French riders - Said Haddou, Drujon Mathieu, Fabien Bacquet, Adrian Little and Jimmy Casper – to take the victory.

Another group of French riders - Jean Lou Paiani, Johan Le Bon, Nicolas Bazin – had produced the main breakaway of the day but they were reeled in with 2km to go.
