Connor Wickham scored a hat-trick as Ipswich Town ran riot at the Keepmoat Stadium, putting six goals past Doncaster Rovers to equal their biggest ever away win.

A calamitous own goal from Sam Hird set Ipswich on their way before Colin Healy and Wickham added further goals before half time to put the visitors in a commanding position.

But Paul Jewell's men refused to take their feet off the accelerator as Gareth McAuley and two further goals from Wickham further punished a shell-shocked Doncaster for an abject display.

Cardiff failed to capitalise on QPR's draw at the weekend as they too were forced to settle for a point against Burnley at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Michael Chopra snatched the opening goal on the brink of half time before Steven Thompson levelled the scores in the 83rd minute.

Both Watford and Sheffield United staged dramatic second half comebacks of their own to earn a point with bottom club Preston North End and Reading guilty of sacrificing leads.

At Vicarage Road it was Malky MacKay's half time substitutes Matthew Whichelow and Adam Thompson who came up with the goods to rule out earlier strikes from Sean St.Ledger and Leon Clarke in a 2-2 draw.

And Daniel Bogdanovic proved that lightning really can strike twice with his second equalising goal from the penalty spot inside a week, repeating the feat first achieved on Saturday against Crystal Palace, after Shane Long had put Reading in front in a 1-1 draw.
