De Gendt extends Vacansoleil-DCM deal
Flemish rider Thomas De Gendt has extended his contract with Vacansoleil-DCM until the end of 2013.
De Gendt joined the team this year but his contract was due to expire at the end of 2012.
However, he has now extended his deal by a year after an impressive season where he won stages in both Paris-Nice and the Tour of Switzerland.
De Gendt also finished the Tour de France strongly in the final week with a sixth placed finish on Alpe d’Huez and fourth in the final time trial.
His performances in the Tour were all the more impressive as he broke his collarbone in the first stage of the race.
"I am happy with the confidence the team shows and look forward to grow within this team,” De Gendt said.
Team manager Daan Luijkx added: "When De Gendt signed with us we knew he had a big potential. However, the things De Gendt showed so far is beyond our expectations."
