Serie A - Doubai to leave Udinese on loan
Sochaux have agreed a deal to sign Udinese midfielder Thierry Doubai, meaning the French club have dropped their interest in Rangers' Maurice Edu.
Doubai, 23, is to undergo a medical with Sochaux and will sign on loan for the club until the end of the season if there are no complications.
It is expected that the Ivory Coast international, who has made just one appearance as a substitute in Serie A since signing from Young Boys last summer, will be presented to fans and media on Wednesday.
Sochaux have now ended their pursuit of Edu after seeing a bid of £900,000 fail for the Rangers star.
“We had two or three options but today we signed Thierry Doubai,” Sochaux assistant coach Stephane Gilli told STV. “We are very happy to have Doubai.
“Our first option was for Edu to come here. But we made two offers to Rangers and they said it wasn’t enough.
“We could not get a solution. I think the offer we made was the correct amount. I spoke to our president this morning and he told us our interest in Edu is finished.”
