Roma, taken over by a US consortium headed by Thomas Di Benedetto subject to regulatory approval, led through Francesco Totti's 20th minute penalty after Jeremy Menez was felled but Mauricio Pinilla hit back from the spot just before the break.

Roma had chances to go back infront but Uruguay forward Abel Hernandez scored twice for the eighth-placed visitors in the last six minutes to leave Roma, in sixth, four points off the fourth Champions League qualifying spot with five games left.

Mirko Vucinic pulled one back in stoppage time but it was too late for Roma and interim boss Vincenzo Montella, who is fighting to impress the new owners.

Leaders AC Milan can take a step closer to the title with victory at home to relegation-threatened Sampdoria later on Saturday when champions Inter Milan also visit lowly Parma.
