Moreno wins Castilla y Leon
Javi Moreno won the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon in dramatic style after overtaking leader Luis Leon Sanchez near the end of the third and final stage in Segovia.
Movistar rider Moreno passed overnight leader Sanchez (Rabobank) on the snow-covered final climb, a category one ascent at Puerto de Navacerrada, with 50 kilometres remaining.
The Spaniard then finished second in the bunch sprint finish behind stage winner Yelko Gomez (Caja Rural) to earn a time bonus which put him top of the general classification.
Guillaume Levarlet (Saur-Sojasun) started the day in second place, six seconds behind Luis Leon Sanchez, and nine seconds ahead of Moreno. The Frenchman ensured he maintained that position with a top 10 finish in the final sprint.
Pablo Urtasun finished the stage ninth, one place ahead of Levarlet, claiming second place on the podium for a Spaniard.
Sanchez faded badly and ended up crossing the line 33rd, dropping him down to 12th in the final standings.
