McCleary leaves Forest

Garath McCleary has joined Reading after rejecting an offer to stay at Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old was recently named Forest's player of the season after notching nine goals, including four in one game against Leeds in March.

The forward, who arrived at the City Ground from Bromley in 2008, has made a total of 123 appearances for the Reds but has now signed a three-year deal at the Madejski Stadium.

Despite being presented with a new and improved offer by Forest boss Steve Cotterill, the lure of Barclays Premier League football with the Royals proved too strong for McCleary.
