Leukemans wins Limousin opener
Bjorn Leukemans (Vacansoleil DCM) won the first stage of the Tour du Limousin after a late break in Gueret.
The Belgian was part of a nine-man breakaway group but six kilometres from the end he sprung clear with Japan's Yukiya Arashiro (Europcar).
Arsahiro was reeled in by the leading group before the finish and could only finish fifth but Leukemans held on for the victory.
Florian Guillou (Bretagne - Schuller) was second and Thomas Degand (Veranda's Willems Accent) was third.
The four stage 2.1 race is held annually in the Limousin region of central France.
The second stage sees the riders travel 184km from St Hilaire Peyroux to Allassac on Wednesday.
