The event hasn’t been seen on the World Cup calendar since 2007 but the French pairing showed no signs of ring rustiness in taking the victory in an aggregate time of 41.30.1 minutes.

The duo were back in third place after the ski-jumping element but they turned that into the gold medal with an impressive showing in the 2x7.5km cross-country.

Italy's Lukas Rungalddier and Alessandro Pittin took second place while the Norwegian pairing of Mikko Kokslien and Markus Krog took the bronze.

The event counted for the Nations Cup rankings in which the bronze medal saw the Norwegians keep the lead at the top with 1,290 points ahead of Germany and France.
