Vonn and Riesch set for weekend duel
With the super-G at Lanzerheide rained off, the battle between Lindsey Vonn and Maria Riesch for the overall women’s title will come down to the last two races.
American Vonn, attempting to win her fourth overall title in a row, has a narrow lead over her German rival in the standings.
Vonn had already won the women's super-G title for the season and will need to fend off her close friend in Friday’s slalom and Saturday’s giant slalom.
Organisers said rain, security and the forecast of more bad weather had forced them to cancel Thursday's races.
The cancellation was mixed news for Vonn.
Although the American kept her slender 27-point lead over Riesch - 100 points are awarded for a win - she is regarded as stronger in the super-G, having won 14 World Cup races to her rival's three.
