Ireland's Dan Martin continued his fine form with victory in the Tre Valli Varesine one-day race in Italy.
The Garmin-Transitions rider stormed to victory in the Tour of Poland earlier this month and continued his rich vein of form to beat Domenico Pozzovivo (Colnago-CSF) to the line.
“In the first part of the race, I didn’t feel good at all, maybe because I was at a party on Saturday” said Martin. “But in the last three laps, something changed.”
Martin escaped with the Italian one kilometre from the finish but produced a late push to drop his rival and ride away to a six-second victory.
The 23-year-old, nephew of 1987 Tour de France winner Stephen Roche, countered an attack by Pozzovivo on the the final climb of the Bobbiate before making his own move.
Belgium's Jerome Baugnies (Topsport Vlaanderen) completed the podium, six seconds adrift of Pozzovivo.
